Electronics (test development) Engineer

Your challenge

You will be part of the Go-2 project team that designs, develops and implements a class III implantable medical device for electrical spinal cord stimulation with in and out body parts, featuring a closed loop control system. The type of work will vary throughout the phases of the project.

• Initial focus is on development of tests and test tooling for feasibility testing on prototypes. This will consist of LabView test development and electronics test tool development.

• Next, the focus will shift towards providing testability input to designers and start working on the development of design verification specifications and automated test equipment.

• In the later phases of the project, the focus will move towards integration testing, electrical characterization testing, design verification testing and execution and validation of test systems. In general, you will interact closely with design partners and manufacturing contractors.

• In the end, you will transfer test equipment and methods from development to the production environment of the manufacturing contractors.

Your responsibilities

• Leading risk burn-down projects by setting up, prototyping and testing concept systems;

• Development and validation of test systems for electrical testing;

• Definition and validation of test cases and test plans for electrical tests for design verification;

• Characterization testing of electronics subsystems and full system;

• Working with the Go-2 team to solve problems and identify improvements in electronics subsystems and full system;

• Design and develop design verification test tooling (in co-operation with partners);

• Design and develop manufacturing test tooling (in co-operation with partners);

Your profile

You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in, electronics, biomedical or equivalent engineering and you have relevant industry experience, preferably with active implantable medical devices.

• You are a generalist, with extensive experience in design processes and testing of (medical device) electronics;

• You are an experienced LabView developer, from development of low-level interface drivers to creation of functional level automated tests;

• You have solid electronics design and system testing experience within a controlled process;

• You have a system thinking attitude, can identify areas of potential improvement and develop plans to address these;

• You are a high energy, self-motivated, pro-active individual able to work in a diverse team within a startup company;

Mastering of French and/or Dutch language is appreciated.

Principal System Engineer

Your challenge

You will work on the integration of a, partly implantable, spinal cord stimulation system (Class III Medical Device). Therefore, you will contribute to specification, design and realization of the system. Areas of attention are:

• System level interface definition and testing

• System level integration plans and integration testing

• Planning and managing of system level design verification

• Specification, design, integration and verification of various system parts such as implantable pulse generator, motion controller, IMU, programmers etc.

• Compliance with regulations and existing (medical device) standards

Your responsibilities

• You will work together with our architects in optimizing system design for integration and verification

• You will take responsibility for the integration/testing of our system

• After design freeze you will be responsible for system level design verification

These responsibilities translate into the following daily activities:

• You will create and maintain the integration test plan

• You will create documented integration and verification test requirements for the system and sub-systems

• You will create verification test plans and test cases

• You will design and create validated test methods and test tools

Your profile

• You have a bachelor or master in electronics, with proven substantial experience in system engineering.

• You have a systems-thinking attitude, can identify areas of potential improvement and develop plans to address these

• Having relevant experience and knowledge in medical device product standards is a pre (IEC 60601, ISO 14708, EN45502, ISO 13485 etc.)
